1. On 1 May, 455 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Ukraine over the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 10 861, the @moz.ukr reports. Of the total cases, 1 413 people have recovered, and 272 people have died. In total, 1 453 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Kyiv.

2. An outbreak of COVID-19 has been recorded in two more dormitories in Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on his Facebook page. The dormitories are now closed. “One is on Bazhov Street, where one patient and 60 people with whom he contacted were found. The second is on Boychuk Street. There are five patients and among the people contacted are all residents of the dormitory”, the mayor wrote.

Police have started criminal proceedings against Cherkasy Mayor Anatoliy Bondarenko after his decision to ease the quarantine restrictions on 30 April, which is a violation of the government’s official plan. Depending on the part of the Article 325 (Violation of Sanitary Rules and Regulations on Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Mass Poisoning) this falls under, the penalty can be either a fine or imprisonment for a term up to eight years.
