New Venues for Inspiration and Innovation

Quarantine has been no fun for anyone, us included.With restrictions starting to loosen, we are finding our feet – two metres from anyone else – on Kyiv’s streets once more. And what we’re finding are some pretty inspired venues to stop and really be grateful for the small things, like…caffeine in the great outdoors, homemade waffles, and a brand new fountain!

Feliz Coffee & Food

Feliz Coffee & Food opened their doors on Nuzhniy Val, at the former location of Burger 41 and Ital Caffe on Podol, for a test-period. “The main concept of the restaurant is soul and taste. We try to respond to each guest’s request, making them a little happier. After all, Feliz means ‘happy’ in Spanish,” say owners of the cafe.
Feliz Coffee & Food proudly use coffee beans from the Mad Heads roaster. They’re dedicated to creating quality coffee, and use high-quality equipment to do so, like the Mahlkonig K30 coffee grinder and the Fetco CS 2021 filter machine. What’s more, the restaurant also has a full kitchen, serving sandwiches, toasts, breakfasts, and desserts — all prepared to be very appealing and “instagrammable”. 

Coffee costs 35 to 70 UAH, and breakfast prices vary from 65 to 160 UAH.

Innovative Fountain

In the capital’s Park of Partisan Glory (Парк Партизанської Слави), a new technological pedestrian fountain with lights and sensors has been launched in test mode. The fountain stands at the entrance to the park and consists of five tall arches, which cleverly drop streams of water, illuminated by different coloured lights. The repair work in the public area of the Park should be completed shortly, so you will be able to take a selfie near the new fountain this summer. In the meantime, check out a video of the fountain in test mode.

Waffle Bar 

Waffle Bar has opened on 16 Velyka Vasylkivska, near the Ploshcha Lva Tolstoho metro station, offering delicious Hong Kong-style waffles with sweet and savoury fillings. The savoury fillings include ham, cucumbers, and Parmesan, fried chicken in teriyaki sauce, tomatoes, lettuce, and sesame. Sweet fillings include chocolate and marshmallows, ice cream, and coconut shavings, with hot dark chocolate, or a fruit mix. “We prepare our excellent waffles only from natural products. We do not use ready-made mixes but knead the dough ourselves, which is why they are so excellent! Come visit; we will treat you to a delicious coffee and bubble waffle,” say owners of the bar.

What’s more, the restaurant also offers wafer-dogs, fricshakes, and salads; Lord of the Hot Dog will set you back 95 UAH; a Cheese Dog – 100 UAH; a Big Chicken – 100 UAH; Hot chocolate – 120 UAH; Mango Chia Pudding – 130 UAH; and Caesar Salad – 145 UAH.

The restaurant is open daily from 08: 00 to 22: 00. You can also order delivery via Glovo.
