Any Good News?

On 6 December, the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine held their annual General Membership Meeting. There are a couple of traditions for that gathering: as well as enjoying a glass of wine and announcing the election of new or re-election of previous Board members, members present are also asked to respond to some business environment questions in real time where the results of their votes are shown on a big screen. To the question, “has your business witnessed growth in 2018?”, fully 74% of those present indicated that they had, indeed, seen better business this year than last. How many countries could make that kind of proclamation, that 74% of their companies had experienced growth in any one year? It’s a sign of good things to come.
