When summer takes hold of the city, it is time to plan a picnic. There’s no better way to enjoy the gorgeous sunny weather than laying out on a rug with some good friends and delicious snacks. Here in Kyiv, we’re fortunate enough to have such beautiful, green landscapes in and around the city. So, to help you make the most of your free time, we’ve come up with a list of picnic spots you must check out!
Park Natalka
Nested on the riverbank of Dnipro, Park Natalka is the perfect place for a family picnic with a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The park has a modern infrastructure with well-kept grass areas, playgrounds for kids of all ages, bike lanes, benches, and football and basketball zones. Just choose a place to lay down a blanket and spend your day relaxing under the swaying trees. If you get bored of picnicking around, you should take a stroll along Obolonska Quay, which is just 2-steps away.
Park Troeschyna aka Park along Romana Shukhevycha Avenue
This next park is a new natural gem, located in Troeschyna, on the left bank of the city. As of now, the park has two sections open to visitors, and the third is planned to open in 2021. You may ask what’s unique about Troeschyna park. Well, the park is oblong-shaped with a pond running through the middle, which is surrounded by long stretches of lawn, making it the perfect place for a picnic with a pretty view and places to stroll. Here, you can enjoy a chilled day and even play a bit of basketball if you’re in the mood.
Park Peremohy aka Victory Park
This spot is amongst the greenest places in Kyiv and has an oasis-like feel to it. Located within walking distance from Darnitsa metro station, Victoria Park is the ideal spot for whatever type of picnic you’re looking to have. The park stretches across 82 hectares and offers many activities and things to see, including a cascade of lakes, a Ferris wheel, boat and catamaran rides, rope activities, pine tree alleys, beautiful gardens, and wildlife. If this sounds like your type of picnic environment, then pack your basket and get ready to have some fun!
Rylsky Park
Named after a famous Ukrainian author, Rylsky Park is located in the northern part of the Holosiivskyi Forest. The park possesses countless hills, endless greenery, and scenic lakes inhabited by ducks and birds.
The great thing about this picnic spot is that you can rent an alcove and host a city-style barbecue. There’s plenty of nature to explore here, and there’s a lot of space, so it’s not hard to find a private spot. You don’t need much to have a good time at this park; get a bunch of friends together, bring a comfy blanket or hammock, and don’t forget the tasty snacks!
