It’s Showtime!

Looking for a new Ukraine-related podcast to listen to? Vsi.ukr has you covered! In Ukrainian, vsi means “all, all of, everyone, everybody,” and that’s what the podcast focuses on — all things related to Ukrainian dance and culture.

The hosts are from Canada but spent time studying dance in Ukraine. They give you an inside look into what life is like in the studio training with professional dance ensembles in Ukraine, plus they talk about Ukrainian dance in general — after all, there’s a lot more to Ukrainian dance than red boots and a big smile, as the Vsi team says.

Launched in February, the monthly podcast has three episodes out so far. The most recent episode features an interview with a dancer from Virsky, an ensemble that calls Kyiv home. You’ll hear how the ensemble has had to shift its focus during the countrywide quarantine, what a typical day looks like for a Virsky dancer, and some words of advice for Ukrainian dancers of any level.

The hosts say they became more interested in Ukrainian culture through dance, getting hooked on the folklore, music, traditions, costumes, and everything else that makes Ukrainian culture as vibrant as it is.

You can subscribe to the podcast by searching for Vsi: The Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Podcasts, or you can listen on Vsi’s website at vsi-ukr.com.
