Two days of theatre and workshops in English enlisting 70 participants from across the city and attracting an audience of 500 – the Pro.Act festival of theatre on 24-25 February at Les Kurbas Theatre was a huge success! Different teams and schools from across Kyiv brought to life various scenes from Shakespeare as well as a performance of The Little Prince in four languages! There are already plans in the works to grow the event in 2019, which means more English and more great theatre!

As is customary for members of the Commonwealth nations to convene on Remembrance Day, members of the diplomatic and international communities joined together on
11 November at Park of Glory to commemorate and honour those who have fallen in past conflicts. This year is especially significant as it marks the signing of the Armistice ending WWI in the forest of Compiegne in France. Exactly 100 years ago.

Members of the International business community started their weekend in style with The Big Meet at Famous on 2 November. More than 100 guests came along to network, have a few drinks, and enjoy the evening together in great company. There are more great events on the calendar – stay tuned for details.

The Austrian embassy along with members of the diplomatic community celebrated their national day at a grand reception on 25 October at the Hilton Hotel. A hundred years following the end of the WWI the event was also marked by the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Austria. Numerous guests from Ukraine and Austria, representatives of other countries and international organisations, partners and friends of Austria, along with Ambassador Hermine Poppeller, the Embassy team, and Advantage Austria Ukraine celebrated in great style.

Ivan Honchar Museum opened its doors on 8 November to reveal its latest exhibition, Identity Interrupted, by Ukrainian-American artist Ola Rondiak. The collection features 53 works, including paintings and sculptures, in dedication to the five-year anniversary of Ukraine’s Revolution of Dignity. Ther series intertwines the history of the artist along with that of the country, the result of which is poignantly relevant. The exhibition remains on show until 9 December – don’t miss it.
