Dreams That Last For Centuries

16 April 2018

Sleeping Beauty (UA, premiere, modern ballet)
23 May at 19.00
Ivan Franko Ukrainian Drama Theatre (Ivana Franka 3)
Enjoy another audacious take on a classic tale staged by Kyiv Modern Ballet. Sleeping Beauty, a joint Ukrainian-Swiss project, will add to their repertoire of Swan Lake and Nutcracker. Both Tchaikovsky’s music and the earlier version of the story penned by Neapolitan Giambattista Basile in 1634 inspired charismatic choreographer Radu Poklitaru to create something outstanding. A smooth blend of reality and magic unravels an inspiring legend to remind spectators of the true values in life. Of course, the plot is slightly changed – a young king finds his sleeping sweetheart not in 100 years, but in 800 years. You’ll have to get a ticket to find out the rest.
Tickets: 90 – 1 200 UAH
