Earthmate Eco Festival in Kyiv

Learn about your impact on the environment and how to create positive change!

Zero waste and sustainable cities – what do these terms mean, and how can they be implemented into our lives? Well, these questions will be answered at this year’s Earthmate Eco Festival in Kyiv, and What’s On is here to tell you all the details you need to know.

Nature is an integral part of human life that needs to be respected; Earthmate Eco Festival’s mission is to make this idea clear for Ukrainians. The festival will take place from 24 to 27 September at Hryshko National Botanical Garden. Over the three days, visitors can partake in a variety of eco-learning activities in the form of excursions, film screenings, and thematic installations. Each day of the festival will be devoted to a specific eco topic: climate change, zero waste, and sustainable cities.

At the festival, spectators can witness the installations of more than 20 artists, such as Yana Bachynska, Roman Mykhailov, Anna Zviahyntseva, Plastikwood, and many others. Painters, architects, lecturers, musicians, and eco-visioners will also share their artworks and knowledge to help bring attention to ecological awareness. Excursions will take you around the botanical garden, allowing you to witness its beauty and deepen your understanding of the environment. By the end of your visit, you’ll have learned the ways that recycling can be both art and business, how vegetarianism can be very tasty, and the importance of preserving parks – you’ll become an ‘eco agent’ at heart.

After a day of learning, you can sit back and have a bite at the food court while enjoying some incredible live music provided by artists such as Jazzmate, S.A. Tweeman, and Criminal Practice: Ghetto Sunrise, Roma Khropko, Hopper Field, Radiant Futur, Poly Chain, and Rustam. Lana Kaufman is the festival commissioner, while Maria Vtorushyna, Andriy Sihuntsov, and Daria Koltsova are the festival curators.

We are all responsible for the future of our planet, and we find ways to sustain and preserve its important ecological systems. If you’re wondering what you can do or simply want to educate yourself more on the topic, we highly recommend a trip to this year’s festival Earthmate Eco Festival.
