Ad Summit Kyiv, held on 16-17 May at Cosmopolite Congress, gathered top execs from Google, Tune, Facebook, Twitter, Criteo, Hall and others to share case studies of the ever-changing digital landscape. Two full days of presentations and panel discussions, covering growth tactics on mobile and video advertising, followed by two amazing parties were designed to broaden high-tech horizons. Participants met, chatted, and mixed with fellow marketers, potential customers, and renowned speakers in a friendly atmosphere that felt anything but “networky”.

On 19-20 May, took place the 10th annual Kyiv Food & Wine Festival at the International Exhibition Centre.  With goals to cultivate Ukrainian wine culture, attendees had the opportunity to try varietals from 32 wineries. Though no additional gimmicks were necessary, those so inclined could took part in an Oyster Battle – a contest to see who could open five molluscs the fastest. There was also the fourth annual Wine Run, a now traditional part of the fest with tastings along the 5km trail and prizes for the best costume! The next event is scheduled for this upcoming October – make sure you’re in town!

On 3 June, the International Women’s Club of Kyiv met at Ukrainske Selo with their families to enjoy the ethno spirit as well as the sun and fresh air. The husbands gathered round the grill preparing a tasty BBQ, chatting, and degusting the Czech beer, while IWCK members and their children partook in classes of yoga, pysanky, vinky with real flowers! One of the goals of the picnic was to raise funds in support of the Crimean Tatar group “Krymska Rodina” who was present at the event. The Crimean Tatars highlighted their culture in an authentic dance performance, music, and a Tatar embroidery workshop. 

The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine held a Champions Business Networking Cocktail on 24 May at the brand new Aloft Hotel in Kyiv. All guests enjoyed an evening with fellow members of AmCham, sampled a few traditional football drinks care of Carlsberg and Nemiroff, took hundreds of photos in fab football-style photo zones, and a few even took home some cool prizes from PepsiCo. Of course, the most anticipated part of the event was the draw for the two tickets to the 2018 UEFA Champions League Final thanks to MasterCard. Congratulations to the lucky winner – Serhiy Yanchyshyn!

Over the weekend of 8-10 June, Help Us Help the Children (HUHTC) charity was buzzing with activity with an initial Friday evening fundraiser care of His Excellency Roman Waschuk – Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine, and wife Oksana Smerechuk, in the courtyard of the Canadian Embassy. Sunday saw the kick-off of a walkathon, which has president and founder of HUHTC, Ruslana Wrzesnewskyj, embarking on a 650 km walk from Kyiv to Vorokhta to help raise awareness of the problems Ukrainian children face in the orphanage system. The walkathon will end in the Carpathian Mountains on 4 August at the start of Summer Camp 2018.  The goal is to raise one million dollars CAD, to sustain and expand the organisation’s initiatives.
