Basketball World Cup Qualifiers
1 July at 16.00
Kyiv Palace of Sports (1 Sportyvna Pl)
Ukraine’s national basketball team continues its quest to qualify for next summer’s World Cup in China with a pair of qualifying matches against Turkey and Latvia this month. The boys in blue and gold will head to Turkey on 28 June before returning to close out the first qualification round against Latvia at Kyiv’s Palace of Sports on 1 July. After four games, Ukraine sits in first place in Group B with a 3-1 record. The top three teams advance to the second round, however results from the first round are carried over, so the Ukrainians will look to close out strong. Led by the team’s centre and captain Vyacheslav Kravtsov, Ukraine will look to avenge their lone loss to Turkey. The team beat Latvia 82-68 in Riga in February. The top three teams from the six-team second round group will qualify for next year’s World Cup.
Tickets: 60 – 900 UAH
