Steak to the Heart
Kyiv has turned into a gourmand’s paradise, with new and different venues featuring exotic cuisine from around the world opening up weekly. Not in the mood for hummus or forshmak? Rather see a big old hunk of meat on your plate? Look no further.
The food scene in this city continues to get bigger and better with each season. And despite fancy dishes from nearly all seven continents making their way onto menus from high-class venues to kiosks selling street food, chefs and restauranteurs have not forgotten about you meat-and-potato kind of folks. In fact, there are a good number of venues in town eagerly vying for the attention of carnivores.
Goodman Steakhouse
As one of the first decent places to find a good piece of meat, Goodman has remained on the steak scene for a number of years and for good reason. Though their prices are higher than what you would find back home, you are ensured of a correctly-cooked cut to end up on your plate.

Beef Meat & Wine
Dubbed as a “meaty, masculine, multinational” venue, the interior does stick to its adage. But what’s on the menu will make anyone happy. Cuts are prepared exactly as ordered, with options for anyone else not looking to hunker down on what might well be “the best ribeye in Europe”.

The Perfect Cut
New York Strip – a classically good cut, thanks to a good amount of marbelling.
Filet Mignon – the most tender cut of beef
Rib-Eye – a boneless cut with luscious marbelling.
Porterhouse – considered the “king” of steaks because it’s actually two steaks in one: New York strip and filet mignon
T-bone – named after its T-shaped bone. Similar to the porterhouse but with a smaller filet mignon
Vatra
Part of the Borisov gastro-chain, Vatra occupies an interesting place on the steak circuit. Proudly serving Ukrainian beef only, the steaks here are a good quality for a good price. Not to mention the additional meat-lovers options of burgers, ribs, and BBQ.

Sam’s Steakhouse
Sam’s has been a staple in Kyiv for international residents and visitors to the capital for more than a decade. Having recently renovated, the atmosphere is in keeping with the menu which is a good selection of local as well as international cuts, along with breakfast and other Ukrainian fare.

Steakburger
As part of the food revolution to entice younger generations with unique and enticing new experiences, Steakburger looks to combine all that is great about that hot slab of beef and put it in a bun. Of course, the more traditional ways to eat a well-prepared steak are also on option.

Syndicate Beer & Grill
One of our favourite venues, Syndicate doesn’t just do the meat, they’ve got some exclusive sides to go right along with, including lobster and oysters. And to wash it all down – some incredibly tasty craft beers for any taste.
