The 49th Molodist International Film Festival
This year, the 49th Molodist International Film Festival will take place from 22 August to 30 August, 2020. The event will take place live with additional accessibility through an online platform.
Molodist is one of the largest film forums in Eastern Europe, according to the International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations (FIAPF). The main task of the festival is to promote the development of young professionals in cinema. The competition program presents feature films of debutants, as well as Ukrainian short films.
The main sections of the festival are student films, debut short films (fiction, animation, documentaries) and debut full-length films, as well as a national competition. The main locations of the film festival will be the Zhovten cinema, which will house the festival centre with screenings of competitive and non-competitive programs, including Ukrainian premieres, the Cinema House – a platform for festival screenings and a series of master classes within the Talent Workshop, as well as a specially designed open-air cinema under the People’s Friendship Arch, which will host festival opening ceremonies and awards, screenings of films of the children’s program “Molodist Teen Screen”, Ukrainian premieres and special events.
The festival will be opened by the film Forgotten (Забуті) directed by Daria Onishchenko, a film co-produced by Ukraine and Switzerland. Its Ukrainian premiere will take place on 22 August, during the Opening Ceremony of the 49th Kyiv International Youth Film Festival.
The ultimate functioning of the festival will depend on the current epidemiological situation in the city of Kyiv and the current sanitary requirements of the Kyiv City State Administration.
