U18 World Hockey Championships in Kyiv
14 – 20 April
Kyiv Palace of Sports (Sportyvna Pl 1)
For a second straight year, Kyiv’s Palace of Sports will host some of the best hockey teams in the world as the IIFH under-18 world hockey championships division 1B comes to the city. The event is the third tier in under-18 international hockey and will see the winner promoted to division 1A next year, while the loser will be relegated to division 2A. Ukraine’s future hockey stars will take on teams from Austria, Hungary, Italy, Japan, and Romania from 14-20 April. The tournament was originally slated to be held in Odesa but was moved to the capital after renovations on the Odesa Sports Palace took longer than anticipated. Last year, Kyiv hosted the men’s world hockey championships division 1A, which saw Ukraine relegated after failing to win a game.
