Kyiv Art Week
23-27 May
Toronto-Kyiv Hall (V Vasylkivska 100)
The annual Kyiv Art Week is a large-scale event called to present a variety of Ukrainian art along with some of the best samples of foreign contemporary art. This year, the festival theme looks to integrate old soviet objects into modern city landscapes, a reconstructed piece of the Wall of Memory – a monument created by Ada Rybachuk and Volodymyr Melnychenko in Baykove cemetery – as the highlight. In 1982, this unique monument was covered in concrete thanks to the unappreciative Communist regime. Thank goodness some things change.
