The independent project Open Opera Ukraine offers a stage version of Dido and Aeneas created by the 17th century English composer Henry Purcell. The performance reproduces authentic sound through copies of period instruments and revives the old times through historical dancing, singing and acting. Singers and musicians from Ukraine, Poland, Switzerland, and Germany will give you a taste of Baroque music in all of its glory.

Having made headlines worldwide, the Italian phenomenon IL VOLO (‘the flight’ in English) finally comes to town to showcase their vocals in a magical night dedicated to iconic Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti. Three young, charismatic and sensual ragazzi – Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto (tenors) and Gianluca Ginoble (the baritone) – make up the pop-opera band that won the televote and reached third place in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. Ever since their concerts have attracted hundreds of thousands of fans across the globe, come and enjoy the tunes mixing pop, traditional opera and classical music played by the orchestra Lords of the Sound.

For the first time ever, famous Czech puppeteer, author, director, and singer Pavel Vangeli brings his legendary one-man revue show Swinging Marionettes to Kyiv. While dexterously handling his 70cm tall string puppets, the maestro keeps the audience on the edge of their seats with funny sketches, situational humour and memorable characters – the Angel, the Devil, the Clowns, the English Gentlemen and the Skeletons.

The Viy remains the weirdest story created by Ukrainian-born Russian writer Nikolai Gogol in the early 19th century. The plot is simple and scary: the theology student has to spend three nights in an abandoned church reading prayers over a deceased girl suspected of witchcraft. Now, the old tale about flying coffins and evil spirits is given a new life in the musical production with its exquisite costumes, awe-inspiring stunts and unexpected ending.
