A Week to Remember

Ukrainian Fashion Week FW19-20 wrapped up on 5 February following an incredible five-day affair with the runway at Kyiv’s illustrious Mystetskiy Arsenal. With 50 designers, 39 shows, 10 presentations, four special projects, six lectures, and numerous public talks, the most influential players in the fashion industry of Ukraine had their hands full.

“The dynamic development of creative industries has become a powerful trend in recent times. Ukrainian Fashion Week has always been and will continue to be one of the most important platforms to show the high level of creative-industry development in Ukraine. Ukraine Fashion Week continues to be a place for numerous cross-disciplinary experiments, a place for collaboration, and a place for mutual inspiration,” said Volodymyr Nechyporuk, general producer of Ukrainian Fashion Week.

This season, the UFW Organising Committee invited international editors of such publications as Business of Fashion (UK), Forbes.com, Vogue Italia, Fucking Young! (Spain), NOWFASHION (France), VEIN (Spain), Supremeye (Belgium); buyers from ASOS (UK), Uggla (Japan); photographers from Getty Images, NSS Magazine (Spain), Runway Manhattan (USA), and Street Style Planet
Earth (UK).

Last fall, Ukrainian Fashion Week proclaimed “sustainability” as one of its strategic priorities, and as such, a fundamentally new project was launched by UFW in cooperation with Sustainable Fashion Pad – the first Ukrainian platform dedicated to sustainable fashion. BE SUSTAINABLE! united both fashion insiders and those visiting Ukraine’s biannual fashion week in an interactive space. In addition, a permanent installation featuring brands Ali Saulidi, BEVZA, D.F.F, Flow the Label, Ksenia Schnaider, MARSALA, RCR Khomenko, Re-beau, ROUSSIN by Sofia Rousinovich, Synchrodogs, and Yana CHERVINSKA was on display throughout the event.

This season, Ukrainian Fashion Week focused on Ukrainian men’s fashion. The 4 February program specifically included a number of shows by Sonya Monina, Roussin by Sofia Rousinovich, Idol, Dastish Fantastish, as well as presentations by Circul, Alxndr Len, Falke, Indposhiv, and Rito in the Men’s Space. The Falke brand, a global leader in men’s sock production, partnered up in the Men’s Space.

UFW would like to thank their partners – undisputed leaders in their respective industries, each of whom shares values of modernity, authenticity, innovative creativity, and sustainability: Absolute Yachts, BMW, Braun, Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv, Falke, Glo, Gorenje, Mary Kay, #Pudracard.

What’s On Kyiv was proud to be the English-language media partner of the event.
