Anatomy of a Podcast

What is a podcast? And now does this very convenient innovation allow you to get  maximum benefit in minimum time? Did you know podcasts can make you smarter? Not surprisingly, they are one of the most popular tools for learning and personal growth. With podcasts, listening to exciting ideas and real conversations on the go has become easier than ever.

Podcasts were designed to fit into an active lifestyle.

Listen on your mobile, desktop, and tablet or any portable device.

The word “podcast” is a portmanteau, a combination of the words pod and broadcast:

• Pod refers to iPod devices and implies that this content is portable, so you can listen to it anywhere.

• Broadcasting is radio based, as podcast content can be consumed in the same way.

Content themes can be almost anything, from business and marketing to travel, yoga, food, and science.

Most podcasts are free or can be purchased for less than a dollar on iTunes, standard Apple Podcasts (Apple only), Tuneln Radio, Podcast Republic (Android only), as well as directly from the creator’s website.

So why do we need them? Podcasts can:

• Improve your listening skills

• Concentrate your attention on important things

• Help your imagination grow when you hear stories
