Digital Trends Coming in 2018

We’re kicking off 2018 by looking at some digital trends expected to define our new reality in the coming year. Jot them down to apply to your 2018 marketing strategy, or casually bring them up at your next get-together with friends to sound like a real digital top banana. Either way, these digital trends will soon enough become less buzzword and more daily-speak.

Augmented Reality

Unlike virtual reality, augmented reality integrates new digital information on top of a habitual user environment without inventing something completely new. While we use it mostly for fun at the moment, augmented reality will become an integral part of our lives in the very near future. When shopping for example, you’ll be able to figure out if those fancy chairs from IKEA really blend with your current living room style, or if your desired party outfit won’t actually turn out to be a total mess.

Voice Recognition

How often do use your voice command instead of taking the time to type? At one time a completely intangible technology, voice interaction with mobile and speaker devices has already turned into daily routine. Along with saving time, they assist in moments when attention is required elsewhere. If you still haven’t met Siri or Alexa, find someone who has – and give it a try. You’ll no doubt find conversation with them eerily satisfying.

Blockchain

Even though everyone has heard of Blockchain, very few people are aware of what this buzz is actually about. In a nutshell, Blockchain is a software platform that helps to store retail information about transactions from numerous computers at the same time. Data maintained in blocks of the chain are available at any time and are never lost. As such, Blockchain technology makes all transactions transparent, fast, and cheap. On top of that, Blockchain embodies cryptocurrencies at its core.
