Exhibition “Grimaces of the Weary Village”at the “TSEKH” Gallery
The TSEKH contemporary art gallery opened a new exhibition “Grimaces of the Weary Village”, part of the Month of Lithuanian Photography in Kyiv. The project is presented by the Embassy of the Lithuanian Republic in Ukraine.
Rimaldas Vikšraitis was born in 1954 and has a special place on the stage of Lithuanian photography. His works don’t coincide with traditions of Lithuanian photography nor with dominant trends of modern photography. The artist conveys realistic and simultaneously unique images of the modern-day Lithuanian countryside.
Rimaldas Vikšraitis’ photographs are not only understandable and relevant to Lithunians, but will resound with spectators familiar with the rural way of life and the trials and tribulations that may bring. Vikšraitis’ received international recognition for his photographs in the major European Photography Festival Rencontres d’Arles in 2009.
The exhibition will take place from 23rd to 25th of October.
