45 Embassies Under 1 Roof
The International Women’s Club of Kyiv is back at it again with their annual Christmas Charity Bazaar. Set for 8 December at Olympiskiy Stadium, the international community is coming to gether to sell their national products, souvenirs, and handmade craft. Don’t forget traditional food and drink is on the menu also!
The event is accompanied by a day-long cultural programme representing various countries and continents, featuring music, dance, and workshops on two stages of Olympiyskiy. Not to mention a children corner to help entertain kids with interactive workshops, games, and Christmas crafts, while mums and dads go on the hunt for Christmas gifts.
A few stands that are always a big hit with visitors each year inlcude the IWCK Boutique and White Elephant shop, which sell quality second hand items donated from the international community. And don’t forget the lottery – some of the group’s most intersting prizes this year include airline tickets and vacations by the seaside.
For 26 years, IWCK has been organising this fabulous multicultural event, which helps raise funds for those in real need across Ukraine. In preparation, IWCK president Valerie Stulikova says the ladies start as soon they return from summer holidays. Recruiting around 2 000 volunteers for the day itself, helpers include diplomatic spouses, and a great number from the international community, including high school and university students. “Perhaps this is the reason why our event is so magical: people can meet and speak to foreigners from all over the world, take selfies with ambassadors, and share the holiday spirit!”
With plans to welcome 8 000 visitors and raise a minimum of 4 million UAH, the ladies have their work cut out for them. Stulikova is not bothered: “We often say Christmas in Kyiv starts with us and the bazaar,” and that will certainly be the case this year with the pleasant holiday atmosphere covering all three floors of the Stadium, where visitors can travel to five continents and enjoy the culture traditions presented by 45 embassies.
