How Much do You Know About Kyiv’s Golden Gate?

One of the most stunning sights to come across when you exit a metro station, anywhere in the world, has to be Kyiv’s Golden Gate monument. But how much do you actually know about it? That gate was the ancient entrance to the city. It was constructed between 1017 and 1024 and it was dismantled almost completely in the middle ages. By comparison, Moscow was still a muddy field at that time, not to be established as a village until more than 100 years later. What you now see standing on that site is a version rebuilt in the 1980s to more or less original plans.
