The Soviet tradition of a military parade on the main street of the Ukrainian cap­ital is being brought back for independ­ence day celebrations on 24 August this year. By decree of the president, a parade of troops and additional patriotic events are being planned across the country for the 27th anniversary of Ukraine’s inde­pendence and the 100th anniversary of the revival of the country’s nationhood.
