The Soviet tradition of a military parade on the main street of the Ukrainian capital is being brought back for independence day celebrations on 24 August this year. By decree of the president, a parade of troops and additional patriotic events are being planned across the country for the 27th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence and the 100th anniversary of the revival of the country’s nationhood. Planning a holiday in August? Make sure you’re back for one of the country’s best-loved days.
