Last chance for Ukraine to qualify for World Cup
Olympiyskiy Stadium (Velyka Vasylkyivska 55)
6 October 6 (away) and 9 October (home)
After splitting its last two World Cup qualification games against Turkey (2-0 win) and Iceland (2-0 loss), Ukraine now sits in 4th place in Group I – just two points behind group leaders Croatia. Only two points separate the top four teams in the group (Croatia, Iceland, Turkey, and Ukraine) with just two qualification games left to play. Ukraine will travel to Albania to take on last-place Kosovo in a must-win match on 6 October before returning to Kyiv for what is likely to be a decisive qualification match against Croatia. The group winner qualifies directly for next summer’s World Cup in Russia, while the second place squad will play a home-and-away playoff with another group runner-up for a last chance to make football’s biggest event. Ukraine plays Croatia on 9 October at 20:45 at the Olympic Stadium. Tickets will sell out fast, so get yours early if you want to see the game live!
